Prairie Sunrise

This barn was built in 1888 by Herman Schmidt, well know are barn builder. Original barn is 32’ by 40’. Roof style is English gambrel. Construction is mortise and tenon tied together with a wooden peg driven through the joints. Foundation is native rock. Farm was homesteaded by G. E. Buell in 1869 and is currently resided by grandson, Merle Buell. Originally, the barn had many horses and stanchions for milking cows. It was updated in the 1950s for Grade A milk production. It has weathered many storms. Now farm cats and memories reign supreme.
